The Most Dangerous Place for an African American is in the womb!

See why the billboard saying, "The most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb." was taken down only days after it was put up. Dr. Alveda King says,
It is an outrageous act of censorship that this billboard was taken down. It should provoke outrage in the African-American community—not because it is racist, but because of the truth it reveals.
WORLDmag.com Community Blog Archive Too missional for abortion? New York City's (NYC's) abortion rate is twice the national average. NYC's rate is 41%. For African Americans it is 59.8%. That is 6 out of 10 of all African American pregnancies in NYC end in abortion. Please tell me these numbers are wrong. The International Business Law reports these stats from the city's health department agency.

What have we done to the African Americans in New York that would cause them to think it is better to abort than to bring a child into New York City. The Hispanic population is not that far behind with 41.3%. Is it a poor problem? A cultural problem? Really it is all of our problem. We can not in good conscience dismiss such a failure or worse blame it on "them."

NYC Bill 371, will add layer of regulations to Pro-Life Crisis Pregnancy Centers, effectively closing many of them. Of all the wrong headed legislation this one must rank near the top. NYC's religious leaders call to bring the abortion rate down. NYC's Catholic Archbishop Dolan said,
My word, what have we done the last 30 years. There's candy bowls on people's desks with condoms, they're dropping them from airplanes, yet nothing seems to improve, so they've been on the wrong track here...
In an interview with The New York Times, Joan Malin, president of Planned Parenthood of New York City said,
Listening to Archbishop Dolan, I took a little bit of comfort in that he recognizes it is important to bring this rate down....

It seems that we are all on the same page that some thing needs to be done about the high rate of abortions. The question is how many is too much? We know this is too many abortions. What are the alternatives to abortion? Why are these numbers so high? What can we do to stop this?

The religious community can not be told, stop pushing your values on us while denying the problem. They can't be told, we like your soup kitchens but we will handle this ourselves. Parents can't be told, we have your best interest of your child in mind. Churches and parents can not deny that abortions happen in good churches and homes. Social problems happen with almost the same frequency in churches as in the general population. I don't have any numbers on abortion in particular but it is best not to be too haughty. Truth is we need to solve this problem together.

Some positive news. Since 1996, the number of teens having abortions have decreased by 16%. Babies born to teen mothers have decreased by 39%.
